Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and learn new skills. There’s also the satisfaction of knowing that your doing something useful and worthwhile. It should also be fun! You can choose the type of role that you want at a time to suit you. We are always looking for people to help with bucket collections to support our fundraising team.
If you would like to volunteer for Carers MK, please contact us to discuss how we can work together.
Comments from Carers MK volunteers:
Wendy – Volunteer Counsellor: “Carers MK offered me a placement when I started my counselling training and, now that I am qualified, I am proud to continue volunteering here seeing two carers a week. By volunteering here, I continue to grow professionally and see a very varied range of clients.
For me, volunteering is special because it gives me a chance to offer my professional skills to others without having a monetary transaction involved. That is important to me. We would live in a very sad society if absolutely everything was determined by money. I support Carers MK in their endeavour to remove some of the barriers carers face in accessing counselling including making the sessions free and at suitable times.
Since I work full-time elsewhere, I had to get quite a few people on board to be allowed to do this. It is absolutely worth it and, sometimes, you get such a big thank you that it makes you feel a mile high.”
Toria: “Volunteering has given me the confidence boost I needed. I feel like I am back to my old self again after going through a difficult few years. My family have noticed a positive change in me too. My self esteem is much higher and I feel ready to take on new challenges.”
